This page contains Frequently asked Questions about the Monarchs Fans Trust, if you have any questions that are not answered here then use the CONTACT US page and we will do our best to answer it and get it added to this list.
How do I join?
Go to our JOIN US page now and sign up to make a regular or one off payment to the Monarchs Fans Trust.
How will the money be spent?
The rules of The Monarchs Fans Trust means that all assets (including all monies received) can only be used for a purpose that is for the benefit of the Edinburgh Monarchs Speedway Club. All rules can be found in the document linked on our CONSTITUTION AND RULES page. Some money is used to help the Trust function, for example the hosting of this web page, but the committee are working to keep these costs down.
Who are the committee and do they get paid?
All members of the committee are ordinary Monarchs fans, all the work they do for the Trust is done on a voluntary basis and do not receive any payment. All are signed up to make regular contributions to the fund. More details can be found on the COMMITTEE page.
What’s in it for me?
This is your opportunity to make a difference in the future of the Monarchs, the committee firmly believe that if we don’t do anything the club may close. As a regular contributing member you will be entitled to vote at all general meetings and influence the direction of the trust. All members also have a chance to be elected to the committee at our AGM.
How is the Trust funded?
The income of the Trust is based on regular monthly contributions from its members. We use a direct debit system provided by GoCardless, other payment methods are also available. The monthly payments continue for as long as you wish to remain a member.
Are my money and personal details safe?
Yes, your data and your money are completely safe and secure and will not be shared with any other organisation (except GoCardless) for any reason. The funds are held in a dedicated Treasury account with the TSB. Payments are also subject to a Direct Debit Guarantee, offering you complete peace of mind. The Trust bank account is controlled solely by responsible individuals, nominated by the committee. Our Treasurer will provide financial statements on an annual basis at the AGM.
Are there different classes of membership?
There is only one class of membership of the Trust and every regular paying member is entitled to one vote at general meetings regardless of how much they contribute. Future decisions on membership classes will be determined by the members.
What happens to the money if the speedway club closed down?
The point of the fund is to raise money to prevent the club closing so in this situation all money would be made available to prevent the club closing. In the unlikely event the trust still has funds it will be donated to an organisation set up to revive speedway in the area or paid to Charity (e.g. the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund). It would not be distributed to Members.
