Fans Trust Update

We’d just like to give you an update following our recent ‘call to arms’ to encourage more of our supporters to become members of the Monarchs Fans Trust.

On the evening of 19th July 2024, prior to the match against the Workington Comets, several of the Trust committee members handed out a flyer which provided a ‘potted history’ of the Trust to date plus some information on why its existence is still very much required.

The response was positive and, in some cases, immediate with a healthy number of supporters expressing their wish to become new members, some doing so on the night.  To those that joined thank you so much as this now brings our membership back up into triple figures and will assist in ensuring the Trust can continue to support the Club going forward.

The Trust Committee continue to meet with Club representatives monthly and are party to information concerning the battle to keep the Club alive.  The main continuing challenge is regarding the crowd size.  Whilst numbers have risen slightly in recent weeks, they are still considerably down from a level that would make us all breathe easier.

We know that the Club and sport have provided us with some wonderful memories, entertainment and friendships throughout its history.  If we want our Club to be around for many years to come perhaps, we can all play our part in introducing more people to the racing at Armadale.

Do any of our members have any ideas on how to attract new blood to the sport?  The Trust Committee and Club would gladly listen to your ideas.

Thanks again to those that recently joined the Trust and to those that are already members.  To those that are still considering joining please do not hesitate to contact a committee member or check the JOIN US page of the website for more details.

The Trust Committee will continue to work with the Club and should any of our new or existing members like to join the committee please reach out to us on a Friday night at the track or by using the CONTACT US page.

The Fans Trust is as Important Now as Ever

Before Friday night’s meeting against the Workington Comets, members of the Monarchs Fans Trust committee handed out flyers stressing the importance of the Trust. The club gave a mid-season update last week detailing concerns about the finances of the club and the attendances at Armadale this season. The Trust is here to help the club through these times, and whilst we have probably rested on our laurels for the last couple of years, the committee now feels this is the time to remind fans of who we are and why we are here.

Many thanks to all of the fans we approached who graciously took a copy of our hand-out but also the many who took time to chat and enquire about Trust Membership. We would love to engage with any fans, old or new, who would like to get involved with the Trust. Please take the time to look at our flyer speak to our committee member or reach out through any of our social media channels. We have also had a few people sign up for the Trust since then, special thanks to those that have done that and if you were thinking about it please reach out if you need any help.

Our members are the most important people in the Trust and we thank them for all their contributions that have kept our famous club going and we hope with your support we can continue to do this for a long time to come. With thanks to our members we were also able to present a cheque to the club for £10,000 in addition to our regular £1,400 donation to help with the current cash flow problems as detailed in the clubs statement last week.

For information about Joining the Trust see the JOIN US page.

For those that didn’t see it here is the hand out we pushed to the supporters last week.

Fans Trust Update

Just a short update to say that the minutes from the 2021 Monarchs Fans Trust AGM were sent out to all members last night. If you are a member and have not received an email please get in CONTACT so we can make sure our records are up to date and you get all future correspondence.

Through 2021 the Trust made contributions totalling £8,100 to Edinburgh Speedway, thank you to all our members for making this possible.  We know how vital this is to the future of speedway in the east of Scotland and the Edinburgh Monarchs.  We also thank everyone for continuing to support the Trust throughout the calendar year as we continue to receive monthly subscriptions over the winter.  This helps the Trust finances to be in a relatively healthy position today but as British Speedway and society struggles to recover from the effects of 2 years of Covid we know there are challenging times ahead.  As usual the Trust committee will work with the Club to tackle these challenges and push everyone forward to hopefully a brighter future on and off track.  If you would like to get more involved or help with any Trust initiatives please let us know.

Following on from the exciting announcement of the 2022 Edinburgh Monarchs and the racesuit opportunities the countdown has now started for the new speedway season.  Hopefully the latest Covid restrictions will be long gone before the first meeting in April and we can look forward to some exciting racing and everyone getting back a lot closer to normal this year.

If you have any questions on the AGM minutes or anything else Trust related please let us know.
