The Monarchs Fans Trust will attempt to present the £5,000 cheque to the club for the 4th time this season on Friday night when the Workington Comets come to town. The only home meeting that beat the weather so far this season was the home defeat to the Berwick Bandits, as per usual the promotion and in particular the track staff did a fantastic job to make sure we got through the meeting and got a result in such difficult conditions. Rain threatened all night so the races were pushed through quickly with no track grading and not much time to fill in your programme never mind present a cheque on the centre green. The other two matches were both called off well in advance of the start time so we try again this week. As before if you want to be involved in the presentation get in touch with the mailbox or Greer Finnie on our Facebook page.
This has been a hard start to the season with the riders not getting the opportunity to ride and get going properly but that didn’t stop us winning the return fixture on Saturday at Berwick. Again the conditions were far from perfect but Jye and Dan both picked up their first points in Monarchs colours and fantastic to see flyin’ Ryan Fisher at his best. It was great to get the banner out as the team did a lap of honour at Shieldfield.
Here’s hoping for better weather this Friday.
