70th Anniversary Draw this Friday

On Friday we will find out the winners of the Monarchs Fans Trust 70th Anniversary Draw.  As usual we’ve had a fantastic response from the supporters and raised a good amount of money for the Trust, the final total will be revealed as soon as we have it confirmed. Tickets can still be bought online they cost £1 and there are 7 prizes of £70 up for grabs. Online ticket sales will close at 5pm on Friday.

If you have sold any tickets they must be returned to a Fans Trust committee member by 7.30pm on 27th April just before the start of our meeting against the Berwick Bandits. If we don’t have your tickets by that time you won’t be in the draw. There will also be one last opportunity to buy a ticket at the track, committee members will have some available at the gazebo (weather permitting) opposite the track shop or in the container next to it. If you have sold tickets and cannot make it on Friday please get in contact with us by email info@monarchsfanstrust.co.uk and we will make arrangements to get them ahead of the draw.

We are extremely grateful to Duddingston Private Hire, Jane Winthrop and Bob and Morag Miller who contributed to the prizes and especially Derek Wilkinson for the idea in the first place. If Friday night is postponed the draw will be delayed until the next match at Armadale. The draw will be made between heats on Friday night so listen and watch out for the results.  The winners will be posted on this website and through our social media channels as soon as possible.  Massive thank you to committee members Craig and April Beveridge for the huge amount of work they do when we have a draw.

Waiting to Launch

The speedway year kicks off tonight (Tuesday 20th March) for the Edinburgh Monarchs with the 2018 Season Launch Show at the Cairn Hotel in Bathgate. This was a brilliant night last year and it’ll be great to see what the club has in store for us this time around. It’s great to see the event sell out sop we are set for a room full of Monarchs fans desperate to hear from the riders in the 2018 team and a lot lot more I’m sure. It’s not long now to the start of the season with an away visit to Glasgow on Friday before the first meeting at Armadale on the 30th March to decide the winners of the 2018 Scottish Cup. Remember if you are going to Glasgow to purchase your tickets through the official Edinburgh Monarchs website as ticket money will be paid to Edinburgh.

There will be Monarchs Fans Trust committee members at the launch event and we are happy to speak to all members and non-members if they have any questions about the Trust. Raffle books for the 70th Anniversary Draw will also be available to buy or sell, so please come and get your tickets or if you have any to be returned we can collect them tomorrow as well. There are 7 prizes of £70 up for grabs and the draw will be made on Friday 27th April. Draw tickets can also be purchased online.

Easyfundraising Donations Reaches £3,000

Donations to the Monarchs Fans Trust from Easy Fundraising have now passed the £3,000 mark, a fantastic total for what is essentially free money. Thank you to everyone who supports us in this way, we have had over 150 people use the website for the Trust since we signed up for it 3 years ago. In the 70th season of the Monarchs it is crucial that we raise as much money as possible to ensure the future of Edinburgh Speedway. Every penny counts.

So please remember when you are booking any summer holidays or trips to follow the Monarchs away from home to use websites like hotels.com for your hotel, Raileasy for trains, Europcar for car rental or Expedia for holiday packages. For car insurance Aviva or buying a mobile phone from Carphone Warehouse donates up to £30 to the Trust. There are many high street names like M&S, John Lewis, Debenhams or George at Asda are also signed up. These are just a few of the 100s of retailers signed up to help worthy causes and you can donate to the Monarchs Fans Trust without spending a penny more than you were intending to. This week is Double Donation week where some retailers increase the percentage raising more money to save speedway in the east of Scotland.

It’s quite straightforward and only costs you a few extra mouse clicks when making purchases online. Instead of going straight to your favourite websites visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk first, then select the retailer you want to buy from. Make your purchase as normal (at no extra cost) and a small percentage of your payment will be donated back to the Monarchs. You can also use an app on your phone or tablet to make donations.

More information can be found here or on the Easy Fundraising website. If you have any problems then contact us by email and we will be there to help. Thank you again to everyone that has made a contribution.

Speedway action on the big Screen

There is a chance to see Edinburgh speedway action on the big screen tonight (Friday 23rd February) at the Monarchs Away Video Night, usual format at the Thomas Morton Hall starting at 7.30. On the night we will hear the latest news from the promotion, get information about new initiatives like the Blue Membership and there could even be team news.

Whilst it has been a relatively quiet winter for the Trust we do continue to sell tickets for the 70th Anniversary Draw and they will be available for purchase tonight. We have 7 prizes of £70 for the draw in association with Duddingston Private Hire. Committee members will be at the video night if you have any questions about the Trust so please come and say hello and take away a book or two of tickets to sell. Tickets can also be bought online here.

The news last night that Parsons Peebles are not going to continue to sponsor the club was a big blow especially so close to the start of the season and it does emphasise how important the fans are to the continuing success and existence of the club. One way to help in this time of need is to sign up and join the Monarchs Fans Trust or if you are an existing member to increase your contributions. More information about joining the trust can be found here. As always thank you for your continued support and hopefully see many of you tonight.

Monarchs 100 Burns Supper and 70th Anniversary Draw

This Saturday (January 20th) the Monarchs 100 Support Group have a Burns Supper at Danderhall Miners Club in Midlothian, it is sure to be a cracking night with “Burns Lite’ poetry and readings, dancing and special guest Alun Rossiter. The Monarchs 100 is another example of how the Monarchs fans rally together to support the club and with nights like this ensure they enjoy themselves whilst doing it.

Monarchs Fans Trust committee members will be there on the night at which we will have tickets available for our 70th Anniversary Draw. 2018 is the 70th year of the Edinburgh Monarchs and with the support of Duddingston Private Hire the draw will have 7 prizes of £70. Tickets cost £1 and will be available at all events between now and then including all home matches up to and including the night of the draw.

Home Video Night Tonight

The Home Highlights DVD show will take place tonight (Friday 1st December) at the Thomas Morton Hall Ferry Road at 7.30pm. Mike Hunter always puts on a great collection of video from all of the home matches of the 2017 season for the Edinburgh Parsons Peebles Monarchs. In a long winter a chance to get together with your fellow Monarchs supporters and watch some speedway.

Monarchs Fans Trust representatives will be available on the night if you would like to ask anything about the Trust or our recent AGM and we will also have prizes available from the End of Season Draw for winners to collect. The full list of winners can be found here.

We also heard yesterday that Sam Masters has decided not to race in the SGB Championship next season, everyone at the Fans Trust would like to thank Sam for all of his efforts in the blue and gold and wish him well for the future. It has been a pleasure watching him race and we will continue to watch on with interest and hope to see him back at Armadale as often as possible. Thanks Sam!
